Services
Takai Technology’s commitment
Quality also means making sure we bring you the highest degree of satisfaction with our service.
All of our models come with two free sharpenings with check-ups (checking the points and blade curvature, readjustment of the handles and replacement of parts) for an unlimited period of time.
In the context of these two check-ups, you are offered insurance during the first year, in the event that your scissors are damaged.
Each Takai creation is identified by a unique serial number to guarantee you personalised and precise service.
Our scissors come with an identification card and are delivered in a wooden box for optimum protection. A chamois cloth and Takai oil felt pen are provided for the proper maintenance of your scissors.
Maintenance Suggestions
For optimal performance of your scissors over time, Takai recommends that you follow these maintenance suggestions:
- After each haircut, wipe the blades with the soft, dry cloth provided by Takai in your box;
- After each workday, pass the Takai Oil felt pen over the blade edge. This will remove the micro impacts and prolong the life of your
scissors. Caution: never use vegetable or any other type of oil other than that which is intended for scissors;
- Remember to use the leather holster provided by Takai in your box. Your scissors will be protected and you will avoid the possible risk of damage;
- Finally, always remember to check the blade pressure before you begin your workday or as soon as you feel a lowering of your cutting efficiency.
o Insufficient tension causes damage to the blades.
o Perfect tension assures a smooth opening and closing for soft cutting and for precision of the blade edges.
Caution: when adjusting the blade pressure, your scissors should always be in the closed position.
To tighten the tension, gently turn the screw one notch clockwise and then check to see if the tension is correct.
To lessen the tension, turn the screw counter-clockwise and then check to see if the tension is correct.
Important: never cut anything except human hair with your Takai scissors.
- Your Takai scissors check-up: Never entrust your scissors to amateur "sharpeners". These control and sharpening operations are very meticulous and should only be performed in our workshop by our technicians.

Know How
Know How
Heir to a long tradition, the manufacturing of Takai Technology scissors also calls upon the best in innovation.
Our collaboration with the steel giant, Nippon Steel, enables us to select the highest quality steel, an undeniable element in the creation of high quality scissors.Each Takai Technology model is first studied with Computer Aid Design software that digitally reproduces the hand in 3-D.
Our creations are then registered on digitally controlled machines that are designed exclusively for chiselling, and the machining operations are performed with incomparable consistency for an extremely precise product.
Our craftsmen then devote all of their talent and expertise to the next step, the polishing and sharpening phase. All Takai scissors undergo Hamaguri convex sharpening, a meticulous technique in which the blades are given a succession of 7 sharpening angles for an extreme edge and a unique softness in the cut.
Takai's Steel
Takai Technology's four steel qualities assure a sharp cutting edge and durability over time.
The steel used for our Summum model is the most sophisticated of the steels.
This alloy is enriched with vanadium, molybdenum, cobalt, chrome, tungsten and manganese.
The perfect combination of these elements gives the steel exceptional properties: improved resistance to corrosion and tarnishing, reinforced anti-oxidant properties and increased strength.
This richness of attributes is why we named this alloy Summum steel.
V10 steel is a new generation of super alloy containing cobalt V10. Its properties give the scissors a high level of hardness for greater resistance to use. Our line of Cobalt V10 scissors includes the Toucan, Pelican, Corum and Meiji models.
Hybrid steel, from the name of our Hybrid model, is steel that is enriched with vanadium, molybdenum and cobalt.The addition of these elements reinforces the anti-corrosive and anti-oxidant properties for better protection over time and greater blade rigidity.
The Hybrid, Ciselor and Nara models contain this alloy.
The Hitachi 440 alloy, enriched with vanadium and molybdenum, guarantees a sharp cutting edge by reinforcing the hardness of the steel and good corrosion resistance.
This is the alloy used for our Zoom, Europa, VUH, Dual, Odyssée, Oxalis, VSP and C52 creations.
Computer Aid Design
In order to offer you greater comfort, Takai Technology's Research and Development Department used Computer Aid Design, a 3-D simulation software program.
This program digitally reproduces the hand in 3-D to simulate the specific constraints acting on the muscles and tendons.
The result is scissors with innovative designs that are in line with your daily technical gestures for indispensable occupational ergonomics.
Microdisc
Takai Technology offers three types of blade pressure adjustment systems.
Our research department designed its models with the goals of precision and easy-to-use adjustment systems.
1 - The MicroDisc© (patented by Takai Technology) is mounted on a ball bearing with a micrometric, ultra flat toothed wheel.
2 - MicroDisc Adapt© (patented by Takai Technology) has an adapted micrometric, ultra flat toothed wheel on a spring for scissors with straight pivot points and blades.
3 - The Screw System uses a screw key for adjustments on models with wide pivot points and sculpting scissors.
